While working in America as a portrait artist, Martjie Carter twice had the honour of being commissioned to do oil portraits of Sammy Nestico. Sammy has composed and arranged some of the greatest American music of all time. He has arranged and conducted albums for people on the world stage such as Frank Sinatra, Barbara Stresand, and Bing Crosby amongst others. He also recorded 10 albums of original music that received four Grammy Award nominations. In addition to this he arranged music for big film studios like Warner Bros, 20th Centruy Fox and others.
